Agenda Highlights 5/3/22
The first item on the agenda for the Fort Smith Board of Directors meeting scheduled for 5-3-22 is likely to be the most discussed item. The Board will vote on approval of a zoning change for 5300 Heather Ridge to allow for 43 undeveloped acres to be developed into the Treetops of Fort Smith housing development made up of a mix of single family dwellings, duplexes, row houses, and apartments. The issue has already been tabled twice at the request of the applicant. One of the main reasons the applicant requested it to be tabled at previous meetings was to allow for time to conduct a traffic study. The study has now been conducted and the results indicate the traffic will be in compliance with the Unified Development Ordinance requirements.
The Board will vote on a change to the Unified Development Ordinance that would automatically send all appeals of Planning Commission decisions first to a study session meeting to be discussed instead of straight to a regular meeting to be voted on.
The Board will vote on approval of the Community Development Advisory Committee’s recommendations for distribution of federal grant funds through the Community Development Block Grant and HOME investment partnership programs of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The Board will vote on whether to move forward with the demolition of a dilapidated house at 7901 Joseph Street.
The Board will vote on acceptance of a bid from Forsgren for $1,490,722.50 for replacement of 20,275 linear feet of damaged sidewalks.
