The Fort Smith Board of Directors meeting scheduled for 8-2-22 will begin with a vote on whether or not to approve a zoning change 8055 and 8101 Massard to allow for a 20.95 acre undeveloped lot to be developed into a mixed use multi-family residential and commercial development.

The Board will vote on whether to approve an change to the Unified Development Ordinance that would allow for accessory residential dwelling units (ARDUs) in areas zoned Industrial. An ARDU is an independent dwelling unit subordinate and incidental to an attached principal use on the same lot. Some examples of ARDUs might be a garage apartment, backyard cottage, basement apartment, “granny flat”, or tiny house.

The Board will vote on whether to buy out the lease on the Caterpillar Excavator currently being used at the landfill. It is on a three year lease that is coming to an end and there is an option to buy the excavator for $216,561. The cost to purchase a similar replacement instead would be $352,671.

The Board will vote on whether to accept a bid from Forsgren Inc. for $1,477,484.65 for a mile of street overlays for Waldron Road from Grand Avenue to Gordon Lane.
